This morning is the Saucony 100PLUS Passion Run 2009. My second time running Passion Run.
Registered for the competitive 15km run. Paid $6 more to start earlier with less runners.
With last year experiece, i woke up at 0420 hrs this time. Smooth traffic this time round. Drove and park at carpark F2. After parking, it was only 0530 hrs. My colleagues has not even set off from his house. Yuen See called me and i have to direct him to the carpark.
Then we set off to the starting point after visiting the toilet. There was a 14km marker, which means that we are 1km off from the starting point. Yuen See, Stanley me managed to reach the starting point before the start. Kok Meng and Sam were late and started later.
Met Ee Hong, replacement for Khoo friend. Khoo came but did not run as he has sore throat. Manoj and Ee Hong were in the 15km fun category which start at 0730 hrs. Tom could not arrived due to BOSTON network having problem.
Weather was quite ok, but very humid. I was already sweating quite hard in the first 2-3km. Was following Yuen See pace for the first 7km as i know he should be doing around 6:15 mins pace. Kok Meng managed to catch up with me and Yuen See. After the 7km mark, i went ahead of Yuen See and managed to lead all the way in. So for the first time among our running group, i came in first.
Down a pack of powergel at the 9km mark.
As expected, I managed to finished the race without needing to walk except the water point along the way. It was quite tough and i was thinking of stopping to walk for some portion but managed to hold off walking. Since i forgotten to stop my watch until 10 minutes later, my polar registered 15.80km.
Collected the finished medal and goodies bag after the run. Very good, no queue at all when collecting them. Drank 2 cans of 100plus and proceed to the ending point to see the rest of the runners came in. All of them managed a sub 2 timing. Later we took some group pictures. Ee Hong went to the medical tent to receive some treatment for his cramped leg due to lack of salt.
Went and took a picture with the sgrunners also. Then we proceed to the hawker centre for fishball noodles. A treat from Yuen See. After breakfast, they are still announcing the lucky draw winners for the 2nd prize.
