Newton Active Run 2009.

Yeah! Finally a race starting point (Farmway LRT) that is walking distance from my house.
Only run that i can wake up at 0630 hrs. Did all the preparation the night before. Went to sleep at around 0030 hrs.
Met up with Ee Hong, Stanley, Kok Meng at Blk 308 coffee shop. Yuen See and Kooi Eng somehow lost their way. Have to direct them over the phone on the direction to the carpark.
Set off to earlier as I'm supposed to meet Manoj at the MacDonald on 0710 hrs to pass him his bib and timing tag. Met Sam, Khoo and his friend at the starting point.

Line up at around 0725 hrs. Flag off at 0730 hrs. Discover that there is no timing mat at the starting point. That could only means that gun time is the same as chip time.
Run at around quite a fast pace by my standard. Objective is to beat Khoo in this race. His friend "tap" me and Yuen See "tap" me at the 4km mark. Ran with Yuen See for 1km. Before the U-turn point, saw Kok Meng leading. Failed to see Manoj. But Ee Hong was behind. Then saw Khoo just before the U-turn point (at least 300m ahead of me).
Decide to eat 1 packet of powerbar gel at 5km mark. Decide to speed up and try to catch Khoo. Overtook Khoo's friend along the way. Alas, there was too much headstart and Khoo is simply to fast. He finished with a time of 58:05 while i finished with a time of 1:00:08.

Finishing time and position.
Soo Kok Meng, 50:51, 200 (simply fast)
Manoj Srinivasa, 54:52, 322
Khoo Tieng Leong, 58:05, 431
Me 1:00:08, 498
Khoo's friend
Ng Yuen See 1:02:02, 551
Samuel Lee 1:02:36, 570
Lim Ee Hong 1:05:30, 635
Khaw Teng Wee 1:14:54, 762
Cheng Kooi Eng 1:22:xx - no official time, did not bring timing chip.

Ee Hong ran too fast, most probably dehydrated. He even lead Kok Meng at the race beginning. Unable to recover enough in front of the 7-11. Ended up send to Changi Hospital in the ambulance. He should be discharged by now.

Overall a good race. Distance marker is quite accurate. Got milo van. A lot of spaces to run. Collection of goodies bag is quite fast. And a sub 1 hour race for me.
