This morning is Salomon X Trail Run 2009. Signed up for this the very first time.
Woke up at 0520 hrs. Did the normal preparation and leave the house at around 0600 hrs. Prepare some extra stuffs (set of clothing to change, slippers) as according to last year runners, it will be very muddy. Did not even bring my nathan fuel belt. Arm band to store car key and handphone in hand for the run.
Reached the neighbourhood hdb blocks at around 0615 hrs to find for parking lot. Damn, all occupied, spend almost 20 minutes to find 1 lot. Started to walk to the starting point which is the Tampines Mountain Bike Trail. Reached there around 0700 hrs.
Called Soo who is the only other runner to signed up at around 0720 hrs. He was around Bedok Reservoir as he alighted at the wrong bus stop. Told me to carry on as he will take a cab here.
Flag off at 0730 hrs sharp. Off i go with the other runners. Sand, pebbles, stones, rock, mud, gravel , jungle trail except road for the whole 10km. It was basically a series of short up and down slope and many section are very narrow allowing for just 1 person to run along.
There was ample water point. I think there was about 4-5 water points. Most of the water point have the H2O isotonic drink. I drank at every water point and decided to walk a bit after the 8km mark.
Finally a long down slope for the last km and came in at around 1:07 and collected the finisher medal. Soo came back slightly later as he started with the women and veteran wave.
After resting for a while, decided to go back and not wait for the lucky draw. On the way back, it started raining heavily and we took shelter under a pavilion for around 10 minutes to wait for the rain to lighten. Pity the those runners who are still running.
Went back to the car, wash up a bit, eat carrot cake at the nearby coffee shop and head for home.
Only 2 runners in our group.
