Swissôtel Vertical Marathon 2008.

STEP UP...RACE UP...

Challenge yourself to the top of Southeast Asia's tallest hotel,
in a gruelling 73-storey climb.

Only the toughest will emerge top and the champion will fly to New York for the prestigious Empire State Run-up.

Total steps : 1336.

First time attempting this vertical marathon.

Woke up at 0615 hrs. Left house at around 0700 hrs.
Registration time for Men 30-39 category is 0745 hrs.
Starting time for Men 30-39 category is 0902 hrs.

Have to wait a short while to start after registration.
Line up 15 minutes before actual start time.
Flag off in waves of 6.
The highest I've climbed is 30th storey during one of the CBD run.

Strategy is to climb one step at a time. Walk in between steps.
There was also a change in steps orientation at around the 30+ storey.
It was really tough at the 50-60 storey. Lactic acid is built up in the legs and can hardly maintain the short burst of climbing.

Reached the helipad finally, took a lot of pictures with my N82. Exchange the medal with the championship chip. Down 1 bottle of mineral water and 2 cans of red bull. Took the lift down.

Have to wait about 2.5 hours for the finisher cert to be printed. Luckily i did not register for the OPEN category as that one start even later.
