This morning is New Balance Real Run 2009. Second time running this event. 4km Trail, 10.4 km Road and 600m Beach. Total distance 15km.
Not much change from last year.
Woke up at 0445 hrs. Left home at around 0520 hrs. Reach Changi Exhibition Centre at around 0600 hrs. Proceed to meet with the rest of my colleagues inside the aircon hanger.
Last year, only Stanley signed up with me. This year, we have Soo, Eddie, Sam, Yuen See, Stanley, Rama and me running the 15km. Tom and Yee Tat ran the 10km route.
10km runners were flagged off at 0700 hrs, while the 15km runners were flagged off at 0730 hrs (they actually started 5 minutes earlier).
As for the run, the trail portion seems to be much more forgiving and flatter this year. The hot sun only came out after i cross the 8km u turn point. Last year, it was hot from the very beginning. As usual, the last 3 km was punishing, facing the hot sun without any shade at all.
Managed a PB and completed it in 1hr 38+ mins. This time round, i did not stop to snap any pictures.
Ice cold 100+ is available at the ending point when i completed the race, but for the slower runner, there was no more left except plain water.
After the run, queue up to collect the goodies bag and finisher medal. Meet up with the rest of my colleague for photo taking and most of us proceed to Changi Village to have breakfast before heading back home.
Below are the results.
