This morning is the Mizuno Mount Faber Run 2009. First time running this event. 10km run. Woke up at 0500 hrs to prepare. Did the normal preparation, did not even bring drinks on site. Brought my nathan race belt with 1 water bottle. Left home at around 0535 hrs and pick up Kok Meng at Bishan MRT station. Reach carpark 126A around 0620 hrs and luckily there are still parking lots available.
Walk around and took some photos, Stanley and Yuen See appear soon after and joined us. Only 1 wave this year, heard there are 2 wave last year. Lined up just after the start line. Was surprised that they start the race at 0725 hrs, 5 minutes earlier than the scheduled start time.
Jogged with Yuen See and Stanley. Kok Meng as usual, zoomed off very early. Manoj was late and started at around 0750 hrs. Stanley slowed to a walk at around 2km mark. I kept up with Yuen See till the start of the Mount Faber slope which is around the 3.5km mark. I proceed to pull away and run my own race. I only stop at the water points for drink. It was basically a good run and i managed to ran back strongly, clocking sub 6 mins for the last 2 km.
Kok Meng was already at the finishing point waiting to capture us on his mobile phone. I came in 10 minutes after him. Yuen See came in 3 minutes after me and Stanley came in 4 minutes after Yuen See.
The organiser ran out of H20 and has only mineral water available for the slow runners. After taking some group photos, we proceed to the hawker centre for breakfast.
Official results.
As usual, they provide gun time. Manoj started very late, that is why his timing is so poor.
