Venue : Gardens by the Bay.
Did a quick check, my last 10km race was Sept 2010, yellow ribbon prison run.
I did not signed up for this race also. Tom passed me his bib as he went to Indonesia with his family for holiday. So i decide to take this opportunity to run 10km and at the same time took in the sight of the new Gardens by the Bay.
Starting point was near the 2 Conservatories. Was thinking of the best parking place. In the end, decided to parked at the Marina Barrage which was free parking.
Woke up at around 0505 hrs, prepare myself and left home at around 0530 hrs. Reached the Marina Barrage at around 0555 hrs. Lot of free parking lot. Parked the car and proceed to walk to the starting point which is about 1km away.
Near the Conservatories, took escalator up and decided to take a 15 minutes snooze at the bench. At around 0645 hrs, started to walked to the starting point. According to the emcee, there are about 4k runners. Luckily I'm in the first wave and the race started promptly at 0700 hrs. Flagged off by nihon Pocari people.
Overall, it was a great run. Lots of spaces to run, cold pocari sweat and plain water at every 2km point. Every km marker which was quite accurate. Tried to follow a "charbor" for the entire race who was wearing earphone, but failed to match her stamina after 8km and she pull away.
In the end, finished at around 1:0x for the 10km.
Rested for a while, got 3 boxes of pocari sweat (those that need to be mixed with water) after interviewed by the emcee. By the way, each box sell for $3.50 at ntuc fairprice.
Only realised that i've been give the wrong finisher medal (5km) after i've walked 1km back to the carpark. In the end, walked back and exchange for the correct finisher medal. Did and extra 2km of walking.
Finisher medal.
