To kick-start the year 2011 with joie de vivre, the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) is organising our 1st This-Ability Sports Carnival. In promotion of sports inclusion and to create awareness of disability sports, this event is organised for people with or without disabilities to come and WATCH, CHEER and PLAY together. Through this event, we hope that participants will understand the importance of rehabilitative sports as well as to learn more about the various developmental sports provided by SDSC.
Participants will be introduced to different sports including bowling, handcycling, sailing and many more. There will be a range of nine sports booths set by SDSC and our National Disability Sports Associations (NDSAs) for the participants to try out the different sports.
Event highlights include the Understanding Relay - an obstacle race participated by students and volunteers from schools and organisations. We hope to promote integration and inclusion between the abled and people with disabilities through this relay event, thus understanding the cause of disability sports.
The carnival is open to the public and admission is free for all! We hope to see you there!
