Run on 31 Jan - run to amk library via seletar and yishun ave 1

Distance : 17.47 km
Avg Speed : 8.4 km/h, 7min 09sec per km.

Reach the intersection of sk west and Jalan Kayu at 0630 hrs. Soo not here yet. So I gave him a call so that i can run ahead as he can catch up with me easily. Met Yee Tat at Yishun Ave 1. After a few minutes, Yee Tat and Soo managed to catch up with me. We changed route and proceed to Sembawang Road and end up Sembawang Hill Food Centre as the ending point. Take a walk break after 16km. After having breakfast at the food centre, took a bus 163 home.

Sgrunners Banana Relay Run 2010.

A quick recap.
Venue is at far off West Coast Park. Only Soo and me running this event. Picked him up at Bishan and proceed to drive to West Coast Park.

Relay Format
1. There will be 3 members in each team.

2. Each member will run 3 laps of 1.65km per lap, but not consecutively. Each team will clock a total of 9 laps, accumulating a distance of 14.85km.

3. Bananas will used as a baton, to be carried throughout the relay by the team member who is running. The 1st runner for each team will collect 1 Banana just before the race commences. The banana baton(s) must be handed over to the next member within the Handover Zone before commencing the next lap. The Handover Zone will be marked by Red Tape on the floor.

4. One Banana baton shall be carried during the 1st to the 3rd lap. For the 4th to the 6th lap, the team has to carry an additional Banana baton on top of the 1st Banana baton. The first member to start the 4th lap for his/her team must be ready with the 2nd Banana baton (available at the handover point) prior to the commencement of the 4th lap. For the 7th to the final 9th lap, each team are required to carry a 3rd Banana baton. This is where your Banana Holding Skill will be a great asset.

5. The Banana batons can be carried in any manner but it must be with the member at all times during the run, failing which, the team will be disqualified due to the Banana MIA(missing in action). Officials will be situated along the route to be on the lookout for the presence/absence of Banana batons.


I was the first runner and basically its a very fun run. Lots of water melon and orange to eat and of course bananas. Plain water and 100+ are also provided.

Each lap was about 1.65km and my lap timing are as follows.
9:37, 9:39, 8:37.

There was a goodies bag given also.

As usual, i did not get any lucky draw prizes. Event completed at around 11am and reach home at around 12 noon. Stop for lunch along the way at fernvale.

Then the 3 of us proceed to run to AMK library and had breakfast at the nearby coffee shop. Almost a carbon copy of last week run.

Long run with Punggol runners group. To the airport road direction, took the defu road instead of the hougang ave 3. Did quite a few stop including buying 100+ at the Esso station. Very slow run, avg 7:12 for every km.
