Hoot Hoot - Pioneer 50" Plasma TV.

Just went i thought that the PC parts purchased recently will be the biggest big ticket items bought before the end of the year, we bought an even bigger item.

My wife saw in the papers that Courts megastore was offering 3 sets of Pioneer Full HD plasma for a price of $3333 for their 3rd anniversary. So the whole family proceed to Courts megastore. There was a queue forming up as there was other limited items such as flying pan for $3. Philips Blu ray player for $133.

Joined the queue and after a short while, i decided to go check out the exact model first as the papers did not state the model name. Initially, i was thinking that it should be the older 508 full HD panel, in the end it was the latest KURO KRP500A model. That was consider the best plasma tv that $$$ can buy.

As we were shopping for a new TV to replace the current 34" CRT TV for the past few months, we were aware of the "market price". The initial targetted TV is the Panasonic 50" V11 series. It cost $4299 with a free 32" TV. Best price seen is about $3999 with the free 32" TV. We were waiting for the price of this panasonic TV to dropped to a more reasonable $3000.

As for the pioneer, the price seen the week before was still a high of $4899.
In the xtremeplace forum, people managed to buy it for $3999 with free pioneer 320 blu ray player thrown in. I was thinking of buying it at this price.

So back to the megastore, ask the sales person whether i can buy it. They ask whether i got the "coupon". I was blur and ask what coupon? They say that the queue below was to collect the coupon, as each item was limited.

Then i ask whether the TV coupon have all been given out, if the 3 sets were taken, there is no point for my wife and sons to queue up. The sales person gave wrong info and told me that people queue up very early in the morning and the TV coupons have all been given out. I was going to call my wife and ask her not to queue up, before i can call, she call and told me she got the coupon, it was the second coupon given out for the TV.

We met up and after a few minutes of discussion, we decide to buy the TV on 12 months 0% installment plan. Too bad, the delivery charge cannot be waived.
Scheduled for delivery on Wednesday afternoon (3-7pm).

Total damage = $3333 + $29.90 = $3362.90

TV at Courts superstore.
