First time doing this event.
Set alarm clock to ring on 0510 hrs.
After the various preparation, water bottle, sunglass and a single power bar gel, left home at around 0600 hrs. Parked at Raffles City (parking charge $4.17).
Fixed up the bike at the carpark and left the carpark at around 0640 hrs. Proceed to ride to the start point, the F1 pit building.
There are tons of riders there and had to dismount and push the bike just before the F1 pit building. Try to meet up with Stanley but was unable to find him. So i proceed to the starting pen. It was a big loop to the starting pen. Before i can reach my starting pen, the first wave has flagged off and the fast 60km riders are also coming in. After reaching the starting pen, need to wait for 10-20 minutes to be flagged off.
As for the ride, there was 2 locations that i need to dismount and push the bike due to congestion. One was at the Kallang location where the route merge into single lane. The second time was just after the u turn point at East Coast as there was an ambulance on the route which leave a very small gap for riders to go through. Other than these 2 locations, there was plenty of space to ride especially the 7km stretch of closed ECP. 4 lanes of expressway was closed for riders.
Garmin showed a distance of $38.69 km and my timing was about 1 hr and 40 minutes. Went to collect the finisher medal and de-chip. Took 2 cans of 100 plus. Decide to leave early due to yesterday night freak accident to check up on my toe.
Rode back to Raffles City carpark and left the carpark at around 1000 hrs. Reach home at around 1030 hrs.
