25km again. This year 25km start at 0630 hrs. Woke up at 0415 hrs, the plan is to take the first bus 156.
Get prepare with long tights, 3 power bar gel. Left home at around 0500 hrs, walk 2 bus stop away and wait for bus 156. First bus came at 0521 hrs. On the way there at Bishan area, it started raining and it was quite heavy. Reach Macritchie just before 0600 hrs. The rain subsides a bit to allow me to walk to the Amenties Centre. Waited there a while before heading to the start point.
During the whole race, it was basically rain on and rain off, the sun only appear at the last section of the race. About less than 3km to go. The target was to complete before 4 hours, this year race route was slightly longer, 26km+.
The race was not cancelled and i started at wave 2, around 0635 hrs. The plan was to run whenever i have the energy. Walking up those very steep slope to conserve energy. But due to the rain, some portion of the MacRitchie trail was very slippery, its was basically yellow mud trail. End up walking at these sections which also allowed me to catch my breathe.
Took 1 pack of power gel after the KTM railway section. At the Dairy Farm checkpoint, ate half a banana. Took my second gel at the 7km checkpoint at the end of Rifle Range road. There was a detour this year that was not there last year for the 25km runners, this also explain why this year route is 26km+.
To round off, it was quite a good race for me as i managed to do lots of running, even at the later stage of the race. At the end, i managed to cross the finish line just before 4 hours.
Drank 2 cans of 100+, 1 subway ham sandwich, 2 ice cream. Washed my shoes and socks at Macritchie washing point before taking bus 156 home. While waiting for bus 156, discovered that part of the sole are detached from my shoes. Guess its time to retire my New Balance MT876 after 2 50km and 2 25km race. It has served me well.
Ate minced meat noodles at the coffee shop on the way home.
